Welcome to the Water Measurement Information System.
The surface water and groundwater data contained in WMIS is collected through the Regional Water Monitoring Partnerships. There are currently 41 organisations within these Partnerships, covering state government (DELWP), Commonwealth government (Bureau of Meteorology and Murray Darling Basin Authority), water corporations, catchment management authorities and local government councils.
WMIS is the primary access point to search, discover and download surface water (water level, flow and water quality) and groundwater (water level and water quality) monitoring data. WMIS now contains real time data (less than 1 hour old) data for all telemetered surface water gauges and groundwater bores.
Data and information on community water monitoring is available at: www.vic.waterwatch.org.au
*** Please note: all data times are Eastern Standard Time (no adjustment for Daylight Saving Time). ***
WMIS Visualisation & User Needs Survey is now live!
Our river flow data, groundwater and water quality information inform a broad range of flood warning, policy, research and water management responsibilities across Victoria.
DELWP is redesigning this website and we’d like to hear from you to understand what works for you. We want to know what barriers you currently face using this website? What functionality would help you make sense of the data on screen to answer the water questions you seek?
How can a redesigned WMIS add value through improved access, exploration and visualisation of data and what would this look like to you?
Head to the survey to have your say: we're eager to hear it! SURVEY Now Live until the 31st May! Takes 20-30mins
Our water information is for everyone. We’re working on new ways to make our water information and data more approachable and accessible, so every Victorian can feel informed.
